The Lab
Where lenses meet frames—and magic happens.
At the heart of our Jefferson Square location is a hidden room filled with hum, buzz, and the quiet focus of skilled hands. This is where your prescription lenses are transformed to fit your chosen frame. We call it The Lab. You might call it alchemy.
Our Lenses
We don’t chase big names, we chase the best results. Our opticians recommend lenses based on your prescription, lifestyle, and frame choice. Sometimes that means a lesser-known brand with a cutting-edge design. Sometimes it means a well-known progressive lens you’ve had success with before. Every choice is deliberate. Every lens is fit for you.
Our Process
Before they arrive at our shop, your lenses are crafted by a specialty surfacing lab. That’s where the prescription is embedded and the coatings are applied.
At Santa Fe Optical, premium coatings aren’t an upgrade, they’re standard. Most lenses come with anti-reflective treatment, scratch resistance, and UV protection. Other options are blue-light filtering, light-reactive lenses, and polarization for sun lenses.
This is where we shine. In our lab, lenses are cut and beveled to fit your frame seamlessly. Every measurement is executed with uncompromising precision, and the edges are polished to a perfect finish..
Want a subtle peach or a brilliant blue? We still do lens tinting the old-fashioned way, by hand, with dye baths and precision timing.
Every frame is adjusted into perfect balance. That means all four points—each temple and lens rim—sit just right. It’s our way of making sure your glasses don’t just look great, but feel great too.
Final Inspection
Before your glasses leave the lab, they have to pass our famously meticulous final tests. The prescription must be exact, the measurements just right, and the lenses flawless; no scratches, no smudges, no shortcuts.
Meet the Lab
She’s been here nearly 35 years. Knows every frame and every lens like the back of her hand. Perky, precise, and somehow always cheerful, especially when she’s deep in her craft.
Metalhead. Quiet genius. With music cranked and focus locked in, he fits prescription lenses into frames the way a museum framer treats a masterpiece: patient hands, perfect results.
